On DC's Absolute
*Many have suggested cynically that it might just be a runaround by WB for legal use of the characters in their movies. Example, we're doing a movie on Absolute Superman, not original Superman...sigh.
Others in comic fandom will bring up the argument that Marvel did this idea decades ago with their Ultimate Universe, same concept of reinventing characters. The concept is so old, Marvel just restarted the Ultimate universe for even newer origins and takes on characters.
Either way, it's kind of fun having both long history characters and whole new takes.
