In Weathering, ten performers move and morph on a raft-like stage, surrounded by audiences that witness the awe-inspiring evolving tableau of bodies, sounds, scents, liquids, and objects. Dancers gradually shift from barely perceptible gestures to high-velocity sprints and collisions, in what choreographer Faye Driscoll terms “a multi-sensory flesh sculpture surging through the Anthropocene.” As a vocal score resonates throughout the space, dancers spill and careen into the spiral of a hurricane. The audience is drawn into this storm, close enough to smell the sweat, hear the labored breathing, and feel the rising energy of the living symphony of bodies.

We will both be at the reception at Hero Complex Gallery in LA on Feb 8 at 6 pm, and hope that you can join us. All my LA friends and artist acquaintances have been on my mind constantly throughout the unbelievable wildfire situation in the city, so I want to give a genuine thank you to everyone who comes out to my show every year. The exhibition Alice Coltrane, Monument Eternal is inspired by the life and legacy of jazz musician, devotional leader, and mother Alice Coltrane (b. 1937, Detroit). The title takes its name from her book Monument Eternal (1977), which reflected her newfound spiritual beliefs; the loss of her husband, the saxophonist John Coltrane; and the path to healing and self-discovery. The exhibition presents works by contemporary American artists paired with ephemera from Coltrane’s personal archive.
