2007 in Pfresno, Texas. Raphael is in county jail following an arrest
for graffiti. He’s a good kid. It’s just graffiti. So you can’t blame
Raphael for the events that unfold after his arrest. He’s not
responsible for the sting operation, the suicide, Pflophouse’s new
mix-tape, Officer Williams and her delusional suspicions, the meth
pipes, the FBI, the rich kids with nothing to lose, Mateo, Larry the
pig, all the knives, the local aspiring TV newswoman, the plutonium deal
gone wrong, or anyone who may or may not die due to that deal turning
sour.
Rats! filmmakers Carl Fry and Maxwell Nalevansky will participate in a Q&A after the February 26 screening at the Royal. Doug Benson will moderate.

NOLLYWOOD IN HOLLYWOOD is a celebration of Nigeria’s growing cinema. From very inauspicious beginnings about thirty years ago, the industry grew to be the second largest in the world in terms of output. It is estimated that over 1,000 films are produced in Nollywood every year, most of them direct to video. In recent years, Nollywood films have garnered critical acclaim and have been exhibited at top film festivals. NOLLYWOOD IN HOLLYWOOD 2025 is the seventh edition of our annual exhibition of Nigeria's best films.

At the end of the Vietnam War, a group of Rangers led by Santos (Chick Vennera) risk their lives to rescue POW Robert McBain (Christopher Walken). Santos hands McBain half of a $100 bill, telling him to pay him back when the other half shows up someday. Eighteen years later, Santos is killed while leading a campaign against drug lords and corrupt politicians in Colombia. When his sister, Cristina (Maria Conchita Alonso) seeks McBain out with the other half of that $100 bill, he must assemble a group of surviving Rangers to take down the cartels and avenge Santos’ death.

As PST ART winds down, join us for Open House, a free, day-to-night exploration of art and science presented by Getty. Highlights include the taping of a new game show pilot from Radiolab, a pop-up art-science book fair from Printed Matter, visions of alien life from the Berggruen Institute, artists and scientists in conversation, music and performances from AfroRithm Futures Group, Massima Bell and Julianna Barwick—plus a late-night “Hydrofeminism Lounge."
LaSorted's Pizza, Kogi BBQ, and a coffee bar by Noun Coffee will be on-site throughout the event, with a beer and wine bar opening in the evening as the festival transitions from day to night.

The first and last hippopotamus killed in the Americas, the beautiful beast nicknamed Pepe by the media, was controversially shot by authorities in Colombia, deemed an invasive and dangerous threat to the community. Dominican filmmaker Nelson Carlos de los Santos Arias (Film/Video MFA ‘14) presents a film guided by a voice that claims to be from Pepe. Between encounters and misunderstandings, epiphanies and sadness, the film presents a world full of stories replete with more stories.
