There is an amazing interview with Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra over at the LA Times. The 70-year-old is stepping down soon, but he's been in control for Sony for a while.
Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra talks ‘arms dealer’ strategy, defends ‘Spider-Man’ spinoffs
"The audience for anime is violently passionate — violent in a good way, not violent in a bad way."
At times, he seemingly grasps the nuisance of why getting the niche market of anime and Alamo Drafthouse is so important, but then just can't admit that Madame Web, Venom and Kraven are just bad movies.

It's crazy to see how he recognizes anime and a beloved theater chain as being worth the investment, but does not understand why people don't like three of the worst critically ranked movies of the year.
