TTDILA Holiday Gift Guide 2024: Film Fiend

Here's our top picks for the cinephile in your life...maybe even yourself.

How could we not start with the Criterion Collection and the just released Criterion Closet Picks -Director Bags, avaible in fonts of Red, Blue and Yellow. Nothing says, "I love movies more than you," than a bag stating it's your Criterion top picks. It's nice, it's listing directors last names.
$35 each

Staying with Criterion, there's The Criterion Closet Candycar. If you've seen the recent lucky celebs going into the Criterion closet getting to pick anything film they want, I feel your jealousy. It was bit weird to learn the closet in many cases might just be the mobile version of the famous closet. Still, if it drove up to LA and you had the chance you'd totally want to go through the collection too, wouldn't you? In the mean time check out this cute little toy car version, perfect to leave out, but for no child to actually play with. $25

Don't forget to grab The House T-shirt if you want to flaunt some Criterion love. And, darn is it not the weirdest horror movie out of Japan. $30

If you've seen the movie, you've got to enjoy the lovely smell from the Heretic Blueberry Pie Candle. Or, perfect for the friend or loved one who suddenly gets the scent in their nostrils and starts to worry. A memory inducing A24 gift perfect for any horror fan. $40

We haven't seen the film, but we've seen the meme for We Live In Time and you can capture the creepiness with the We Live In Time Carousel Horse Tee and just enjoy the film with the We Live In Time Meet Cute Tee. Oh, you'll get questions about the horse head shirt.
$40 each

The simple one-word film Kill comes from India and surprised us with the amount of carnage one man out for revenge could deal. Taking place all on a train, this had some of the best fight scenes we've seen all year. This beautiful Kill Steelbook 4K UHD is an exclusive of Amazon and straight up gets the vibe of the frustration and anger our hero has trying to get through a horde of enemies out to kill him. Get the movie in the best possible way with the Blu-ray $34.99

Bloody hell, you redefined the horror comedy. Shaun of the Dead both works great as a horror film and a comedy and captures the wonderful vision of Edgar Wright. Still sore, we never got his version of Ant-Man...sigh. What we do have is the Shaun of the Dead - 20th Anniversary Steelbook 4K Ultra HD + Digital 4K UHD ... I'm sure they could shove some more words in there. This limited edition has a bunch of special features and just some great looking new cover and interior art. $34.39

Anything from Vinegar Syndrome. Here's some new editions that came out this year or are coming out right before X-Mas. As of writing this, the web-site is down til Black Friday with even more surprises.

You're gonna love this dumb phone movie from the 90's. Congo, yes the one with watches from Taco Bell is back and on Blu-ray.

Wait, what's really going on in these tapes? WNUF 1 & 2 are on Blu-ray thanks to Terror-Vision. A cult classic that looks like it was pulled from the 80's we keep going back to with a follow-up that totally matches the 90's. Both "movies" looks like VHS ripped from local TV. What actually lurks in the films is something far more sinister and quite funny.

What better way to celebrate your love of film, but by joining prominent film clubs around town. Oh, and get discounts and special screenings normies don't. American Cinematheque and Vidiots have different levels to choose from, but any basic membership lasts for a year. Enjoy films in theaters and with other like-minded lovers of film.
