"No filmmakers capture the playful chaos of action cinema’s Golden Age like Andy and Arlene Sidaris (HARD TICKET TO HAWAII). Donna (Dona Speir, HARD TICKET TO HAWAII) and Taryn (Hope Marie Carlton, HARD TICKET TO HAWAII) are government agents who are transporting a vaccine overseas. Forced to land their plane on a remote island, the duo discovers that an evil gang is searching for a sunken WWII Japanese ship that contains a fortune in gold. SAVAGE BEACH has one of the greatest titles in motion picture history, and it’s another over-the-top winner from exploitation cinema’s most eminent power couple."

-Examines the global impact and lasting influence of the science fiction subgenre cyberpunk on cinema culture. Featuring near-future scenarios set in worlds that resemble our own, cyberpunk films juxtapose technological advances with social upheaval, ecological crisis, and urban decay. Central to these stories are outcasts and rebellious characters who fight against corrupt political systems, technology gone haywire, global mega-corporations, and colonialism.

"Science Fiction Against the Margins showcases filmmakers who occupy the “margins” of mainstream cinema in order to challenge and subvert the science fiction genre. Hollywood’s ubiquitous sci-fi story structure functions within the conventions of action-driven melodrama, resolving social issues in private, emotional and moral terms that reinforce the status quo. This series offers an alternative body of media wherein a speculative mode of thinking outside familiar expectations of narrative resolution opens up representations of race and ethnicity, gender politics and cultural identity. While the focus is on the feature film as a global form of mass entertainment, the series also includes documentaries, shorts, video art and television episodes."
