Weekly What To Do: Hello Mavis Beacon, Can You Teach Me To Make A Sandwich?

Director Jazmin Renée Jones and co-creator Olivia McKayla Ross will appear in person at Landmark's Nuart on Friday and Saturday, September 6 & 7 for Q&As after the 7:30pm shows.

SEEKING MAVIS BEACON is a hybrid-documentary that blends myth and memory to uncover the truth behind an unsung hero in Black history: Mavis Beacon. Against the fluorescent industrial landscape of West Oakland, we follow “e-girl detectives” Jazmin (Director) and Olivia (Associate Producer) as they search for Renee L’esperance — the Haitian woman who modeled as the in-game typing instructor in 1987.

Mom & Dad's Nipple Factory director Justinsuperstar and subject Randi Johnson will participate in Q&A after the Friday and Saturday, September 6 and 7 screenings at the Town Center.

From Executive Producer Mayim Bialik, when Randi is diagnosed with breast cancer, her introverted husband Brian, a traditional family man, transforms their modest Midwest home into a secret prosthetic nipple laboratory, an act of love that blossoms into a truly unexpected business, kept hidden from their church, small-town community and five unsuspecting children.
