SoCal Haunts & Experiences 2024

Here's our 2024 guide to all the haunts you can shake a broomstick at. More will be added as the Halloween season approaches. It's divided into three sections, Wholesome Horrors for kids and family. Haunts for those old enough (FINE PRINT-by legal standards of those haunts...or needing a guardian, because theme parks aren't daycare)

And, Experiences, where you're part of the show!

"Knott's Scary Farm is Southern California's longest-running and most haunting Halloween theme park event. This anniversary's lineup includes 10 frightening mazes, 5 sinister scare zones and 4 hair-raising shows. Guests can expect to experience their worst nightmare as the most horrendous monsters await around every corner ready to turn you into their next victim."

You've really go to go through the different scare packages...

Knott's might not be connected to any of the horror franchises or latest scary movie, but they make up for it by making up their own scares like they've been doing for more than, well it'll be 50 years. Knott's is the old school haunt you can always come back to and get the berries scared right out of you.

New Offerings

"Eight Fingers Nine: The Boogeyman (Maze) – Become immersed in a living fairy tale in an 18th century colonial township that's under siege by an inhuman monster who has a sick penchant for eating fingers. As night descends, Eight Fingers Nine emerges from the shadows in search of fresh meat. His vicious bite penetrates deep, causing sleep paralysis which holds his victim in sway while he slowly consumes their flesh. Step lightly and beware the dark, or you may be the main course at his next meal!

Widows (Maze) - The night of the arachnid is upon us! Enter a web-covered nursing home where demonic, eight-legged black widows emerge from their silken tunnels to possess the withered bodies of the elderly residence. Their sole purpose is to secure a mate and hatch a clutch of eggs before sunrise. Will you climb into their web and succumb to their dark desires?"

Select nights, Thursdays through Sundays, from Sept.7 until Nov. 3.
26101 Magic Mountain Pkwy, Valencia, CA 91355

We're glad Dark Harbor is back, the whole Shaq themed Halloween was funny, but made no sense. And they never used the name Haunted Shaq.

"Dark Harbor is a massive Halloween festival that takes place on The Queen Mary and surrounding harbor. This year’s event will feature haunted mazes, live entertainment, themed bars and lounges, experiences on-board the ship, festive eats and treats and, of course, the return of well known icon characters."

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride
Friday, September 20-November 2, 2024
Griffith Park 4730 Crystal Springs Drive Los Angeles, CA, 90027
$$

One of our favorites of the season. You get on a hayride and get driven into the scares. We've enjoyed the different themes per year and hope they come up with some awesome new turns. The Witch of the Woods theme seems like a great new fright.

Oddly, having Janelle Monáe have her own section called Monáe Manor has our attention. We guess it's not so weird with Shaq having his own themed haunt for two years and The Weeknd having a section at Universal Horror Nights. What were writing is pay for the extra sections more than just the ride, they're well worth it.
