Anaheim Convention Center - Exhibit Hall D
800 W. Katella Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92802
DCon hits us this weekend and sadly might be the last one in SoCal for a while, read more about it below in our Q&A with the founder of DCon, Ben Goretsky.
What's DCon?
"DesignerCon is an annual art and design convention that smashes together collectible toys and designer goods with urban, underground and pop art! DCON is over 300,000 sq. ft. and features over 700 vendors, art & custom shows, live demonstrations, and much more! The show coordinators strive to provide a fun, safe, comfortable environment for fans, artists, and vendors to meet. Join us every year at the Anaheim Convention Center for a weekend of fun, toys, and art!"
Here's a quick interview with the head honcho for DCon, founder Ben Goretsky, on what to check out
and next year's move.
and next year's move.
1. Ben, how do you feel about this year's DCon and what new stuff should people look out for?
Ben: We are as always excited for the show and look forward to seeing everyone. We have a lot of new things going on at DesignerCon which we hope everyone will be looking forward to including the return of such vendors as MEDICOM TOY, Pop Mart, MightyJaxx, Good Smile, Mondo, Johnny Cupcakes, Rip N Dip, OBEY, The Hundreds and so many more. We also have lots of exclusives being sold on the floor this year including items from How2Work, BE@RBRICKS celebrating the 20th anniversary of JJ Lin as well as a BE@RBRICK celebrating the anniversary of The Hundreds. Along with all these special products we also have an amazing art show going on in conjunction with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce which celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the Hollywood Sign. 100 artists from around the world are doing their own version of the Hollywood sign as a 3D art piece on a platform designed by artist ONCH. It's going to be an amazing art show on the floor of DesignerCon! Speaking of Hollywood, we are excited to have celebrities releasing their special collectibles as DCon exclusives. As always we will have amazing artists at the show bringing the best for the fans including Tristan Eaton, OG Slick, Persue, Tara McPherson, Alex Pardee, Alex Solis, Coarse, James Groman, Jim Mahfood, The London Police, Thumbs1... the list can go on and on!
2. What part of DCon are you most looking forward to seeing this year?
B: For me it's always the amazing list of artists. Along with all the artists on the floor with their own booths, we have another 100 artists coming in just for the Hollywood100 Show... this is awesome!
3. I see DCon moving to Vegas next year, why the move now? I'm still missing Pasadena.
B: Unfortunately we had to move and Vegas was the best option. We wanted to stay in Anaheim but dates were not available for us. This year we took a slight change and the show got moved to December because of the lack of dates in November. For 2024 we were told there is nothing available for us at Anaheim during our timeframe and therefore we had no choice but to look elsewhere. As much as we would love to go back to Pasadena, the space there is too small. We are excited to go to Vegas and we hope that the fans will see the benefits of us being there as well. Vegas has transformed from a city of gambling to an entertainment capital. Easy flights into the city, a wide range of hotels and the ability to get anywhere in the city quickly made it very appealing and we feel vendors and attendees will see what we mean when they come to the show. Viva Las Vegas!
