Friend of the Fest is a new week-long film festival in Los Angeles,
programmed and presented by the American Cinematheque and a wide variety
of exciting podcasts (both film and non-film related). Each of our
guest podcasts has curated a film that they will introduce live to
audiences at the Aero Theatre and Los Feliz 3.
August 24: A Night with Kid Cactus and the Cactusteers -- The show will consist of a 35 minute pre-show featuring comedians Lisa Wallen and Conner Roma, as well as a fake "art auction" hosted by Kid Cactus' comedian Arlo Sanders. Then the movie What is Art will be screened.

From writer/director Jennifer Reeder (Knives and Skin) comes Perpetrator, a “dark, queer-feminist genre mix of body horror, gore and mystery” starring Alicia Silverstone and Kiah McKirnan.
When teenaged Jonny is sent to live with her distant aunt Hilde, she finds her new school has constant “killing spree” emergency drills, inspired by an ever-growing number of missing local girls. Then, as if that’s not enough to deal with, on her 18th birthday, Jonny’s given a very special cake which triggers a radical metamorphosis in her. Newly empowered and inexplicably fascinated by the disappearances, Jonny sets out to look for clues, and a blood-soaked coming-of-age story takes its course.

On Saturday, August 26th, downtown Los Angeles’ Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) will proudly unveil their next major solo show, titled Peering Through the Darkness, featuring new works from established Los Angeles art scene painter Luke Chueh.
Alongside a solo show from Pop-Surrealist painter, illustrator, character creator, and comic artist Camilla d'Errico, titled Nurtured by Nature, in the Main Gallery and the annual BUY ART SAVE KITTENS fundraiser (presented in partnership with Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats) in Gallery 3. All three shows will be on view through September 30th. All the artwork, gallery space and labor for this event has been generously donated so that every purchase will have a greater impact on the life saving mission of Kitty Bungalow. 100% of proceeds go to medical care and food for L.A.'s feral kittens.
