It’s the last night on Earth, and Sandra (Sandra Oh) is stranded. With reports of the planet’s demise on the rise and New Year’s approaching, she enlists stranger Patrick’s help to contact her husband. Featuring an ensemble cast of characters spread out over a panicked fictional Toronto, LAST NIGHT explores society’s deepest motivations, from sex to family, careers, and simple human connection. As the countdown begins, Sandra and Patrick must choose between embracing the end or fighting for the life slipping through their fingers.

The American Cinematheque is proud to welcome acclaimed filmmaker Ruben Östlund in-person for an all-day retrospective at the Los Feliz 3.Östlund joins us to discuss three of his critically acclaimed films, including FORCE MAJEURE and his two Palme d’Or winning films, TRIANGLE OF SADNESS and THE SQUARE, and will present a Sunday Print Edition screening of Luis Buñuel’s VIRIDIANA.
