This is an insane deal, $10 to check out the brand-spanking-new theater at the Academy Museum? Parking might not be great, you gotta go to LACMA or across the street, but these classic horror films will be on one of the best screens and supposedly good sound system.

marvelously macabre movies that have been nominated for or won Academy
Awards. From ghosts to gore, creature features to edge-of-your-seat
psychological thrillers, this series spans a broad range of cinematic

After a
series of mysterious deaths befalls their small town, an offbeat group of
friends led by Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) becomes the target of a masked
killer. As the body count rises, Sidney and her friends turn to the “rules” of
horror films to help navigate the real-life terror they’re living in. The film

A shocking spree of sensational Seventies horror — screened from lovingly rescued 16mm prints.
We
forever love the genre’s vibe from that time for its backwoods grit,
Gothic grandeur and just plain bugnuttery. This era’s indie visions and
exploitation hybrids have never stopped delivering on their grimy
promise. Don’t miss these six far-out features ruled by folk curses,
desert disasters, ancestral torments, orphaned teens, demented
hillbillies and telekinetic murderers!

On a trip to meet his (white) girlfriend's parents in their affluent
suburb, Chris Washington reads the familyʼs over-accommodating behavior
as an awkward attempt to deal with their daughterʼs interracial
relationship. But as the weekend progresses, and after a series of
disturbing discoveries, Chris realizes that just because youʼre invited
doesn't mean you're welcome. Composer Michael Abels conducts his
disconcerting “gospel horror” original score, performed live by the LA
Opera Orchestra and the amazing DC6 Singers (the performers heard on the
soundtrack).
"If
you've never seen HOUSE, you've never seen the full capacity of what
cinema can do. Director Obayashi coming out of TV and commercials
decided to use every trick in the book (and invent a whole host of new
tricks) to tell his story of a group of teenage Japanese school girls
who go to visit an eccentric Aunt in the country only to discover she's a
bloodthirsty demon wanting to feast on their youth so she can get young
herself.
And yet, the movie is a musical, happy go lucky, avante
garde hilarious go for broke horror comedy coming of age story with
scenes and effects and images you'll never forget."
Part of the Halloween-o-thon Extravaganza October 30-31st
The longest-running midnight movie of all time stars Tim Curry as the
kinky yet endearing “transsexual from Transylvania” Dr. Frank N. Furter,
Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as his hapless guests Brad and Janet,
Meat Loaf as motorcycle-riding rough trade and author Richard O’Brien
as the hunchbacked butler Riff Raff. It’s harmless musical fun—a
delightful spoof of Hollywood horror movies and Old Dark House
melodramas. The Rocky Horror Picture Show was the first—and is still the best—interactive movie experience!
A Halloween tradition! Don’t miss classic silent cinema with a live organ soundtrack. Film critic Leonard Maltin described Clark Wilson as a “master of silent

silent films. This Halloween, Wilson performs a haunting score for John
S. Robertson’s 1920 Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, starring John Barrymore.
