Sad to report the last hold out for an anime convention in California this year, Crunchyroll Expo, is a no go. They gave up due to Covid-19. And it was scheduled all the way in September.
Happening next month and online is Japan Cuts 2020. It'll be going on July 17-30th. And for those who have their Internets with American ISPs you could watch the latest and most batsh*t crazy stuff from Japan. This festival usually sets the mark for the crazy stuff we'll be eventually getting from Japan on streaming or hard to find Blu-rays.
"Festivities kick off July 17 with a live virtual Q&A with Shinichiro Ueda, director of JAPAN CUTS 2020 Opening Film selection Special Actors – the much-anticipated follow-up feature to Ueda’s breakout 2017 indie debut film One Cut of the Dead.
More details will be shared in June. Sign up for the Japan Society Film e-newsletter and follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay updated!"
