Weird Wednesday: ROAR

An unprecedented – and wholly unpredictable – action-adventure, ROAR follows wildlife preservationist Hank (THE EXORCIST producer Noel Marshall in his sole and career-derailing turn as an actor and director), who lives harmoniously alongside a menagerie of over 100 untamed animals, including cheetahs, elephants, lions and tigers on a preservation in the African plains. When his wife and children arrive (real-life wife and THE BIRDS star Tippi Hedren, and step-daughter Melanie Griffith) for a visit, a long-brewing battle for dominance between the lions erupts and threatens their very lives.

TCM Classic Film Festival: Special Home Edition

This special edition of the Fest begins April 16 at 8pm continuing until April 19 on TCM and will include TCM hosts, special guests and events to watch on-air and follow on social media.

An on-air celebration of TCM Classic Film Festival movies and moments from the past decade that fans can enjoy from the comfort of their homes. As a part of the Special Home Edition, TCM is proud to showcase films that have been a part of the TCM Classic Film Festival, both from years past and slated for this year’s event.

Fantastical beasts have captured our imagination throughout history. Creatures like dragons, griffins and unicorns were the cultural ancestors of natural histories, zoos, and Darwin; of My Little Pony and Animal Planet. Some have their origin in traditional mythology and were believed to be real creatures, while others were based on real encounters. One function of mythical animals was allegory. Unicorns (innocence and purity) were described as extraordinarily swift and uncatchable by traditional methods. Today, we find them in every art form including films, television, literature, comics, superheroes, Anime, and more.

Happiness is Easy is a continuation of Prończuk-Kuziak’s True Colors show and is composed of 17 new oil paintings depicting short stories and reality snapshots which all have one thing in common - happiness. Prończuk-Kuziak shares, “With time, I saw that True Colors was all about hope: hope for luck, and inner peace. The show attempted to communicate, that even for misfortune, life goes on, that a night is followed by a day, and the sun comes out after every storm. The newest series of my works, now, describe happiness and finding it in perverse ways. Happiness is a very subjective concept and on the individual level, is often extremely difficult to reach despite being the most important and crucial need for all mankind. People can try to reach it for all their lives and find it in the most unexpected or strange places, situations, people, or moments.”

Flowers features 15 new acrylic paintings from d'Holbachie, utilizing one-of-a-kind frames (as seen below) made from antique mirrors, that showcase a beautiful cocktail of colors only found in flowers. She shares, “Flowers are reproductive organs, pheromone attractant perfume, sweet honey pots, and launch sites for rockets that travel toward strange worlds. Colors have always attracted me. When we see colors, those are what our brain creates. Birds can see colors which our eyes can’t recognize and so, colors are up for interpretation. I am creating a cocktail of my own colors which my mind perceives, and I want to share its joy with many people.”
