Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Opens this weekend, so expect to see non-stop posts online from every site about what it's like. Our top favorites are from /Film so far.
And if you're not going, wish nothing but pain and suffering to your friends and family that get to go and remind them that some people do die from going to Disneyland.
I've got dates and trailers for some of my top picks of movies coming out. More of the indpednet variety. Yeah, were for Godzilla 2, but check these out later this year.
-First up from every artsy and indie blog site saying the loved it is Parasite; this won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and will be heading to LA this October 16th, with a wider release later. Neon snagged the rights for Bong Joon-Ho’s story about two Korean families, one rich and one street smart in a messed-up parasitical relationship.
-The Amazing Johnathan Documentary will
magically appear on Hulu and select theaters August 16th. This doc covers one of my favorite
comedians back when Comedy Central gave people specials to watch. He is a mean and insanely angry Vegas magician and he made me laugh with his violence and comedy. Other than go over his life we learn about how he was diagnosed to die with one year
to live, but somehow keeps the magic alive and continues his act.
-Jay Myself will also open in LA August 16th. This doc goes over photographer Jay Maisel having to move out of his home. His home happens to be a 6-story building in New York City filled with not only his photographs, but huge collections and oddities. How does someone fill up such a place? We'll find out, hopefully with a lot of backstories on his giant collections.
-Lastly, a new horror comedy that was, I believe at the LA Film Festival, Deep Murder. Yup, it's making fun of Deep Throat. The movie sets itself as a soft porno with a serial killer, it's the premise, but the movie also plays itself as though everyone in it is still in a soft porno. A nice ensemble cast of people ready to die for their craft. It's gonna be out for Streaming June 14th with a limited release in theaters.
-If you're visiting Universal Studios Japan this Summer you can check out the amazing looking Godzilla vs Evangelion the Real 4-D Ride. That's Japan's latest iteration of Godzilla's fighting the Eva's and it looks pretty epic. The crossover makes even more sense when you realize Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno directed the latest Godzilla movie in Japan. via ANN
The hit anime Evangelion comes to Netlfix this June and many like myself aren't happy that it's getting a English new dub, whose new cast still hasn't been told.
Senran Kagura Peach Ball is coming out July 9 on Switch, which is kind of sad. It would have been perfect to play at Anime Expo, but it's missing it by two days. It's a totally NSFW pinball game that has you bouncing your balls off of cute girls butts and boobies. It plays pretty bad, but that's not the point. The point is to ogle.
-Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered has been announced and it's coming later this year on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC. The orignal was a favorite of many including us here at TTDILA. It was basically a third sequel. This new HD version will let you once again team up with like minded Ghostbusters to go online and hunt ghosts together. And hunting ghost together on a team was a lot of fun. We'll give you a reminder when the game has an official release date.
-Escape Room LA will have a room based on a SEGA property, The Detective: Judgment. The room opens June 30 and ends July 13th. The Detective: Judgment' Escape Room is taking reservations now.
In a really sad and silly way of trying to stop illegal pot shops from operating the LAPD will visit and have the water & power shut-off. Because the law is so bad on what the police can actually do, this is what the city does to curb these illegal shops. We need to have the law just shut down the businesses entirely.
As this recent LA Times article explains that the people running these pot businesses either just open at a different location or actually buy an external, we assume gas powered, generator.
"Although the utility shutdowns have disrupted some operations, many
businesses have also simply reopened after obtaining an external
generator. The detective who guessed the White Castle dispensary near
Wilmington would be back in business in a week was almost right."
This fun idea, (sorry, it's not real) has you just drawing members as part of one of the new games for Jackbox Party Pack 6, out this Fall. Just Draw A Penis would have had you battling friends on who could draw the best dong and would allow you order a 3D print of your penis drawn pics. Read the post on it here.

Before Godzilla: King of the Monsters stomps its way into theaters we thought we would get some fans to check some of Godzilla's exploits in comics. Two of our favorites are the fairly recent Godzilla: The Half Century War and Godzilla In Hell. The two series take on Godzilla in some fun ways, first going through his whole history and then into Hell.
Godzilla: The Half Century War James Stokoe's utterly fun, filled with fan knowledge, kaiju bashing badassery is found in the pages of Godzilla: The Half Century War. Stokoe's book follows Godzilla through the eyes of Lieutenant Ota Murakami, who fights the giant green devil over five decades. Each issue/chapter is another era in which Godzilla is fought by the growing older Ota. Stokoe, whose clearly a fan of Godzilla and wrote and drew every issue, showcases a number of Godzilla's old foes, fights and history. His art is as killer as the kaiju king he draws. All the while you have you're own little Raymond Burr (American actor inserted in Godzilla for theAmerican audience) to tell you what Big G is up too.
Godzilla In Hell
Godzilla in Hell seemingly takes place after on of the times Godzilla has "died." The series starts off strong with an issue done again by artist James Stokoe, that has Godzilla just sort of falling into Hell. From where? Who knows?
It's just kind of funny to see Big G just wandering through Hell. This is a giant radioactive dinosaur who can't talk, so it's really only going on the art. We get a nice fight with a demonic version of Godzilla that perfectly matches the style of Tokyo gore you might find in one of the Godzilla movies from the Millennium series. The rest of the issues are kind of boring. Each issue is done by a different artist and frankly, until issue five it's just other artists doing their version of Godzilla going through Hell, none of which that really stick. If you can, just get issues #1 and #5 of the series. Issue #5 from Dave Watcher ends with a slow build of Godzilla pacing through some different environments of Hell, freezing to blistering heat. Then features our King of the Monsters getting eaten by small demons all the way to his bones, then coming back together in some sort of weird, yet cool, demon collective form. And once again no words except for a demonic sound of skree-oink! A crazy issue that might, in a supernatural sense, explain how Godzilla comes back.
Dark Phoenix is coming out this weekend and do you care? I sure don't. Other than the Chinese poster for the film, nothing about it has drawn me to see it while in theaters. I'll wait until it hits streaming, like so many others. I look forward to the franchise as we know it dying and being reborn, like the magical bird stolen from the Harry Potter films that this movie is named after.
I guess...I'm just hoping Marvel Studios can restart the series and get rid of it's messed up time-line and mediocre actors. And I mean the new cast.
Tracking the movie, it's suppose to have the lowest-opening weekend in the franchise and even lose to The Secret Life of Pets 2. via /Film That's pathetic. Let's try and make it even lower.
Disney will get the message if you don't see it. So instead, go see Godzilla: King of Monsters. Sure, the human cast in it doesn't look that impressive and seems to be a stereotypical bunch of people you don't care about, but, hey, they're all probably gonna die...eaten or stomped on. Most of those actors are poorly cast for a movie about a giant
radioactive dinosaur beating up three-headed dragon that shoots
lightning out its mouths.
Reviews of the current Godzilla film have been saying the movie spends too much time on the monsters instead of the humans, to which I say, "Sweet!"
Think about how much I cared writing about Dark Phoenix that I'm telling you to see Godzilla instead. That's how much I care for what looks like a movie you might want to watch on your phone on the toilet.
LA Times has a great short story on how stinking bad it is to try and park in Koreatown. It's more of a day in the life of story than hard facts about it, but it shows how horrible it is to live there and try and find parking.

-Main news, Taika Waititi is set to release Akira, yup, a live-action adaption of the insane anime for WB's and get it into theaters by 2021. There's no news on cast or any other relevant details yet.
-JoJo Rabbit, Taika Waititi next feature film comes out this Oct 18th. He directed and wrote the film based on a book and stars in it...as a fictionalized version of Hitler. He plays a version of Hitler imagined up by a 10-year-old German boy during WWII who starts to questions his pal when a young Jewish girls hides out at his place. It's suppose to be a mix of drama and comedy.
-He got to direct at least one episode of the upcoming Star Wars Universe The Mandalorian show.
-Is off from doing the animated Bubbles movie for Netflix, it would have been the story of Micheal Jackson through the eyes of his pet chimpanzee.
-Has done no real work regarding the sequel to We're Wolves, based off the werewolves from the What We Do In The Shadows vampire comedy documentary film.
-He did appear with his fellow vampires from the film in a recent episode of the television show of the same name. Find him in Season 1, Episode 8, The Trial with his fellow vamps.
-The Sonic Movie has been pushed back three months to Valentine's Day in 2020. This will give animators more time to fix the look of the hog. But even better rumored news is long time fav Sonic cartoonist/artist Tyson Hesse is working on the Sonic Movie. Now he hasn't come out and said it, but was asked online after the new art came up of a sonic hand holding up a sign with the new date of the film. The art looks like his work and when asked online, he put up a photo of Tony Stark, who revealed he was Iron Man in the first movie. Here's hoping he really is helping on the movie, because they need it.
-City of Ghosts, is a new cartoon series from Elizabeth Ito heading to Netflix. She worked on Adventure Time and (I actually own art from her) that pretty good cred. It's suppose to be a hybrid cartoon, doc series about essentially ghosts and there stories. via THR
-Nichijou is finally getting a dub. It's a slice of life anime on school girls where everything seems to start off normal then takes a sudden trip into the strange. We're talking robot girls, talking cats and dogs that can sense when someone really screws up. The animation was also highly impressive and made us laugh out loud with it's strange plots. This was one of our favorite animes that should have been dubbed years ago, but a problem where the company that was going to license in North America died. Funimation has finally picked it up...and though we wish it wasn't the same five people from Texas it's good to hear it finally in English. It's out on Blu-Ray/Streaming July 23.
-Rim of the World just hit Netflix, some campers have to save the world by traveling through LA. It's pretty bad, McG did a much better job with The Babysitter. Also, for a movie taking place in LA, it still feels like it was shot mostly in Canada. Strangely, it was shot in the California.
