Whatever’s in a store doesn’t belong to anyone yet.” That’s the motto of Osamu Shibata (Lily Franky), patriarch of a loving, if larcenous, family living on the margins of Tokyo. Thinkspace is pleased to present new works by Portland-based artist Stephanie Buer in Wild Abandon. Known for her poignant, photorealistic paintings in oil, and charcoal works on paper, Buer captures the abandoned recesses of the city, finding unexpected richness in its desolation and quietude in its abrupt vacancies.
On view in the Thinkspace project room are new works by Canadian, New York-based artist Daniel Bilodeau in State of the Art. Bilodeau’s paintings explore the symbolic fracture and disarticulation of the individual through the literal reorganization of the figurative subject.

A panel discussion with the founders of new publication theLAnd, moderated by George Chen + Voyager Institute's Bret Berg.In 2017, LA Weekly's new owners fired its existing staff with zero notice. This action by Orange County investor group Semanal Media led to a “Boycott LA Weekly” movement that tackled advertisers and even convinced Henry Rollins to discontinue his column.
Today, former Weekly writers and editors have come up with their own vision for a print magazine that recaptures the rebellious spirit of the alternative press.  Continuing the discussion from Voyager's November show, we speak with the LAnd's Jeff Weiss and Jennifer Swann.
