First official art show ever
Opening Reception: Fri, Nov 16, 7-9 PM
Gallery 1988
Free
Two years in the making, this Friday night we open the
official collaborative art show between Gallery1988 and WWE. Utilizing both
rooms of the gallery, one side will house a large group show with almost 100
artists creating pieces inspired by the superstars of today and yesterday,
while the other will be the newest solo show (of paintings and prints) from
black velvet artist Bruce White. At one time thought to be impossible, this art
show will be epic.
All in conjunction with Survivor Series, taking place Sunday
at Staples Center, the artwork will first be available for purchase at the
gallery Friday night, then online (shipping to only the United States and
Canada) Saturday afternoon (PT) at gallery1988.com.

This winter, Materials & Applications invites you to an
experiment in social steaming. Designed and built by the artist Michael Parker,
Steam Egg is a public sculpture and fully-functional steam room that is
mirrored on the outside and mortared on the inside. Guests are invited to climb
up and into this ovoidal-shaped steam room and immerse themselves in a hot,
intimate setting with friends* and strangers. The heated vapors are infused
with specially devised scents selected by our Herb-J (kinda like a DJ but for
olfaction). We recommend two or three short rounds of steaming. Live music by
holloys** will complete your full sensory experience**.
