LA Film Festival Dead

We just got word from LAist that the LA Film Festival has gone and died. We just had the, now known, last one in September. Sadly, Film Independent, the group behind the LA Film Festival says it can no longer produce it. It's too costly for them and they haven't seen it getting any bigger.

Film Independent is still sticking around with different events and to help independent filmmakers. We write about their events quite a bit.

It's sad to say that a town based so much on film has lost its own film festival. Hopefully, new plans can come together to bring it back or new support.

We have so many film festivals, it's hard to believe we can't have one named after our city.
