Madeline (newcomer Helena Howard) is a teenage girl who joins an experimental improv theater group, where she soon begins to shine. Evangeline, the workshop’s ambitious and manipulative artistic director (Molly Parker, American Pastoral, “Lost in Space”) takes an interest in Madeline’s raw talent, pushing the teenager to weave her rich interior world and troubled history with her insecure mother (Miranda July, Me and You and Everyone We Know) into their collective art. However, both Madeline and Evangeline get carried away, and the lines between performance and reality begin to blur, approaching madness.

On Saturday, August 18, 2018, the 12th Annual Day-Lee Foods World Gyoza Eating Championship—the West Coast’s premiere eating competition—will host Major League Eating's top competitive eaters including Joey “Jaws” Chestnut, Matt “The Megatoad” Stonie, Geoffrey Esper, and Miki Sudo. They will devour as many Day-Lee Pride gyoza (Japanese potstickers) as possible in ten minutes. Chestnut holds the current world record in the discipline, which he set in 2014 when he ate 384 gyoza in competition.

 The Japan Film Festival is back in town...and also in Orange County at the same time. They have a short, but sweet selection of Japanese films to see. The one were most interested in is One Cut of the Dead. It's an insta-meta-cult-classic horror movie where a film crew is faking a zombie movie, then gets stuck in a real zombie attack.
