If you have burnable income this is a thing you can go to instead of doing more useful. I'm not even sure why I hate this, other than it doesn't seem in anyway useful. The people involved clearly have great skill that is thoroughly wasted on building tiny houses.

Builder Palo Coleman will demonstrate Shou Sugi Ban, a Japanese technique of protecting wood by charring it with fire and designer Dustin Diedricksen will present a live framing demonstration.
