The indie is on this week as IndieCade returns for another year off of-the-wall games. Some video games, some computer games, some board games and big social games are going to crack open out heads with strange new ideas. It's a big change this year. Don't head to Culver City, they've moved on to USC this year, more specifically the Cinema and media area. At least will have air condtioning and no big games are planned this weekend, so parking should be reasonable, just not the prices for parking.
Games were excited for
Are we unhappy that Ghost Court is on Friday and not the real weekend, oh yeah.
"Ghost Court is a live-action party game about spectral justice in a
small claims court. You and your knucklehead friends will play litigants
both living and dead, as well as officers of the court."
And sadly, that one is unavailable to people who have Friday off.
Pitch Fight; a party game for 5+ players, where you pitch the next big
thing! Players take turns pitching against each other, two at a time,
and everyone else votes on which idea comes out on top. However, you
only have three points to express your idea! The winning pitcher obtains
two Pitch Bucks, and each player that voted for the winning pitch
receives one Pitch Buck. In the defense round, players can use three
more points to explain why their idea is the best. Everyone pitches
twice, and the person with the most Pitch Bucks at the end wins!
Epitaph; a competitive tactics game where each player commands a team
of three Reapers, the many faces of death, to steal souls away from your
enemies and conquer the afterlife. Triumph by forming combos between
combatants, setting up brutal moves and countering the plans of your
opponent. But be careful – every time a Reaper dies, they come back
stronger, so as you are closing towards victory, your opposition also
becomes more formidable. Highly tense and fast paced, Epitaph provides
the action and creativity of a MOBA team fight mixed with the
high-pressure decision-making of Speed Chess.
I.C.U.; an experimental first person horror game in which the player
must survive a dystopian TV show that thrives on broadcasting the death
of their contestants. In I.C.U. your audience decides your fate as the
player’s live Twitch chat votes for events that’ll affect the player’s
experience in-game. Performance is key in I.C.U. as your life expectancy
is tied to how well you can entertain your viewers!
Wheels of Aurelia; a narrative road trip game set in the roaring
Italian 70s. Half racing game, half interactive fiction, it tells the
story of Lella, a restless woman driving on the roads of the western
coast of Italy, the famous Via Aurelia.
Wheels of Aurelia plays like an old-school isometric arcade racer,
except that you get to chat with your passenger while driving. The story
takes places at the end of the 70s – a time of terrorism, kidnappings,
and political turmoil in Italy – and it will introduce you to that world
and its dynamics through a cast of characters that you have never met
in a video game. It's up to you to discover their motivations for
driving along the coast of Italy and away from their homes.
You Must be 18 or Older to Enter; recreates the feeling of being a
prepubescent kid looking at porn for the first time. Through interactive
fiction elements combined with ASCII styled art, ‘You Must be 18 or
Older to Enter’ blurs several genres together to create an anxious
experience. It is akin to horror yet the fear is of being caught by
parentals and being embarrassed of looking at the human body. The ASCII
art makes the images hard to read close up, making the player embody a
child-like role. Audiences at farther distances will be able to see the
pictures more clearly, casting them in the role of adults
Beglitched; a game about insecurity, in our computers and ourselves.
In a pastel world of networks where nobody truly knows what they’re
doing, hacking is a magical art and the notorious Glitch Witch is the
most premium archmagi of the net. Through what appears to be nothing
more than random circumstance, YOU are her new apprentice. You must use
your wits and cunning to unravel the mechanisms of an alien computer and
survive amongst a veritable web of clowns, leftclickers, and
filedraggers.
Shackle; a cooperative puzzle horror game for the Oculus Rift. Two players find
themselves trapped on opposite sides of a haunted room, divided by
darkness. Actions performed on one side of the room may affect the
other, making communication key. Use flashlights to explore your dark
surroundings, but draw too much attention and you risk an attack from
that which lurks beyond the walls.
Clue House, wait, from those Wise Guys Events, always fun.
Giant Cop: Justice Above All doesn't look bad either. Oh, wait, yeah there's plenty of games that look fun.
