Press release:
Los Angeles, CA (September 21, 2016) -- Snorkel Dreams: A Machine Project Guide to Art Underwater is
a group show of artist works presented in partnership with the City of
Santa Monica. The exhibition will be showcased underwater in the pool at
the Annenberg Beach House. The pool will be open to the public for
swimming and underwater viewing.
A public art project curated by Machine Project--an experimental non-profit art space based in Los Angeles--Snorkel Dreams explores the public pool as a civic and creative space to exhibit works of art.
The show provides an experiential shift in where and how we
observe and view art, creating a heightened sense of engagement and a
completely immersive art viewing experience. Participants will have the
option to view the art both in and out of the pool--swimming above and
around the variety of works. This project marks the first time
underwater art has been presented at the Annenberg Community Beach
House.
The works on display will consist of paintings, sculptures,
ceramics, video, photography, and an architectural model. Selected
artwork will be from well-known and emerging artists.
Artists include Andrew Cannon, Jessica Cowley, Bob
Dornberger, Emily Joyce, Alice Könitz, Candice Lin, Becca Lofchie,
Johnston Marklee, Jennifer Moon & Laub, Paul Pescador, Jen Rochlin,
Sune Woods, Kim Ye, Patricia Yossen, Mallen&Gray, and Machine
Project with Grace Eunchong.
