Booyakasha! The turtles took over WonderCon. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles booth was not only giving out different colored turtle masks, but let you get green screen pics with the new Paramount movie Bebop and Rocksteady. They had the new turtles game to play, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, statues of the movie versions of the turtles and photo shoots with the cartoon turtles. On Saturday, Megan Fox(April O'Neil) and Stephen Amell (Casey Jones) signed autographs.
The biggest draw for long time turtle fans was the special WonderCon panel that showed a sneak peak of the episode "Trans-Dimensional Turtles" that recently aired. It brought together the 1980's animated turtles to the newest shell-shocked team.
Within the crowd of old and new fans we cheered and laughed at a great episode that could have only been created by fans who now run the show. A little girl sang along to the theme song behind us, while a older fan dressed as a Doctor Who laughed at every joke. Turtles forever!
The panel started with the huge turtles fan from YouTube, Andre Meadows aka Black nerd. He would play host to the voice cast of Rob Paulsen (Donatello), Greg Cipes (Michelangelo), Christian Lanz (Fishface) Kevin Michael Richardson (Shredder) with executive producer Brandon
Auman and surprise guest Zelda Williams (Mona Lisa).
"Y'know early on in the Mirage comics they went into space pretty early, so you know we had to figure out a way it would go into the season four, but it was a blast," is what Brandon
Auman said when asked about our boys being in space. He added that the influence of sci-fi in space comes more from European and British sci-fi so it wouldn't only be Star Wars and Star Trek references. There still surprised they snagged David Tennant (Doctor Who) as The Fugitoid.
"Mikey's a very deep character, there was a lot of range," that was Greg Cipes on playing Michelangelo and how being in space affects his character. This deeper make though was immediately laughed at. He was joined by fellow cast member Rob Paulsen saying, "...we get to have entirely too much fun and then, in some strange odd occurrence I get money, so don't tell anybody I'm leaving a dream."
Over on team evil Kevin Michael Richardson told us to be prepared for something and left us in fear. He didn't say what exactly, but just because we don't have Shredder so far this season doesn't mean he's gone.
On a totally different page Christian Lanz opened up to the audience saying on how much he enjoys giving Fishface a Latino voice, which has brought in new fans from around the world. It's given him a great honor to be the first Latino character in the series.
Zelda Williams was just happy not playing an evil dictator in a kids cartoon.
The panel ended with the new episode and a lot of smiles on turtle fan's faces.
Is it odd that now I could go for a pizza?
