Hito Steyerl: Factory of the Sun Starts Feb 21 A Bit Of Gamer In It

A new artsy exhibit to get yourself some art cred comes out this Sunday. Hito Steyerl's Factory of the Sun is a video installation that goes between genres from docs to video games to show you can still do stuff while being constantly monitored by technology. It makes fun of that concept with what we assume is an overall behind the scenes joke of motion capture workers moves being turned into artificial sunshine. Oh yeah, that downright sounds artsy and confusing.


You'll be in a space similar of what would be perceived as a video game load up screen from a sci-fi movie that lets you play with holograms. Sadly, no holograms, but lounge chairs to...lounge in and watch the story unfold.

The story has a gamer-esqe style adventure for you from what the press release says, "In the video’s whirling narrative, workers attempt to escape the gulag, which turns out to be part of an elaborate video game. A narrator named Yulia, who is also the video game’s programmer, slowly reveals the situation in a deadpan voiceover. Reality and fiction intertwine as the structure of the video game crosses with Yulia’s actual biography"
