Weekly What To Do: The Lobster Comes For Thee, Eiga and Kickstarter Film Fests

Your Weekly What To Do is served. Look elsewhere on the site for anything horror related. We have Halloween taking up too much space, so it's banished to its own section.

TTDILA's favorite Japanese film festival opens this weekend, Eiga Fest! It ends too short, but we have Beyond Fest happening later this month.

Being able to look around the Magic Castle for a mere $8 bucks is worth it. You have to know someone to get in and are still charged for what I've heard as a merely okay steak.

The Blue Moon Diamond sounds like villain bait, now if we only had some villains and I don't mean the DWP.

Film, TV & Music

EigaFest
Sept 12-14
The Egyptian
6712 Hollywood Blvd
Tickers starts as low as $5
Parties and Premieres raise the price

EigaFest, a Japanese film festival like no other, returns to us earlier than expected starting this September. For just three days we're getting live-action Japanese action and drama movies we may never see in the US on any screen for years, licensing and distributing people. The festival kicks off with the live action, just released in Japan, "Lupin the Third". The festival closes with a sequel to one of the films screened at the fest in 2012, "Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno". Both are based on popular manga and anime series in Japan. Fans in the US might know the two series from their popularity on Toonami.

Kickstarter Film Fest
September 12
6-11pm
The Autry in Griffith Park
Free

This free, one-day film fest will showcase films funded from Kickstarter creators and some LA based Kickstarters, not including LA Game Space, which was funded in 2012 and has had no progress since.

You'll be seeing some of the much anticipated "Kung Fury", an ode to everything fun from the 80's with Nazi-fighting time travel with Norse gods. "Night of the Living Deb" let's you enjoy a zombedy from an LA based team.

Awareness Film Festival
September 11-21
James Bridges Theater, Aero Theatre,
Santa Monica Bay Historic Woman's Club and the Promenade Playhouse;
Festival prices range from free panels and select free screenings, $12 for individual presale tickets, $15 at the door, an all-access pass of $89, to $195 for VIP festival passes.

A festival to make aware a broad spectrum of problems. If you have the bug to help out, but don't have a cause, you have a long selection.

The Simpsons Take The Bowl

The Simpsons will take over the Hollywood Bowl for a few nights this September. Scenes from The Simpsons will be accompanied by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and end with a stunning fireworks display. More special guests are planned and rumors of Conan O'Brien singing the Monorail song have come up.

Over a time of 9 months, Ms. Castuera has provided ceramic bodies to scores of distinct entities from Banana Flats.
