LA Comics: Judge Dredd: Mega-City Two and The Private Eye

Two comics recently had LA as their background, with futuristic versions of what LA could become.

 

Judge Dredd: Mega-City Two features the always helmeted-hero walking the beat of a future LA. As part of his job he has to be in a reality show and even gets a temporary sidekick, Pug Dredd. It makes fun of LA culture quite nicely. The overall story is dumb, but for anyone from LA the jokes are damn funny, if not incredibly stupid like a bad Sy-Fy Channel movie. New residents have to audition just to get into the city.

Brian K. Vaughan's The Private Eye has you in LA with total anonymity, everyone wears a mask. In this future for LA the cops are journalists and our hero is  P.I. and independent or private journalist, really a private dick for hire.

The terrible design of the Metro Rapid still exist decades into the future

LA looks very different in 2076 after the internet was shut down after a massive amount of data leaked online releasing everyone's secrets. The masks and costumes everyone wears all the time makes it look like non-stop Comic-Con around LA. Too many small details make it creepy how much it takes place in LA. One issue had P.I. stopping at In-N-Out.
