Two of LA's most well known Hollywood comic shops held special events for Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, Golden Apple and Meltdown Comics had special events and signings. Felipe Smith was signing at Meltdown. The current writer of Ghost Rider and character designer on the current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Nickelodeon said, "Had a lot of fun, got to draw some Ninja Turtles for some kids, that was fun. It's always fun at Meltdown. It's always supportive of local artist and they always have really fun events." When asked about Ghost Rider, Felipe said, "Well, it sold out, people had to bring their own copies for the signing and this week issue three comes out."
Meltdown let fans and artist do chalk drawings in front of it's store, many images culled from Adventure Time and the internet. One wonders if the fans who came late noticed when Meltdown gave out a huge stock of back issues for free out front as well.
