WB Animation's Beware the Batman sees no return this February to Cartoon Network after an extended hiatus that is still not explained to fans. Full episodes are known to be completed and of last month the show was still in production for a season 2. WB Home Entertainment is releasing Beware the Batman: Shadows of Gotham Season 1 Part 1 this Tuesday Feb 18, featuring two un-aired episodes.
Two things about this news: One, the home release came out of nowhere, usually press is told about a home release months ahead of time. Two, a home release showing two un-aired episodes in not a good sign of a series coming back.
The only releases that show un-aired episodes that stay afloat are Adult Swim shows, but G-d knows how Adult Swim functions with one of the oddest track records of broadcast history. Some shows coming back after years of being on hiatus. Venture Bros won't be back until 2015 and Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule is coming back soon after not having had new episodes since 2012.
Just another side note, we can easily see Batman as a marketable character for kids, just look at The LEGO Movie. There's no doubt in my mind that some new version of Batman will be on TV in time for the live action movies coming out, but know I wonder if the cartoon will be done in-house with so many recent failures; Green Lantern.
