UCLA Game Lab creates a new way to get into gaming culture starting Thursday with a workshop that could lead your punk game being in the opening exhibition on Saturday. Hope to hear about some crazy punk hair styles and perhaps a game based on them.
From the UCLA game lab site:
Punk Arcade is a videogame art exhibition and workshop inspired by rapid prototyping and DIY culture. Punk Arcade is curated by Sarah Brin and Lee Tusman.
Participate in an intensive 3-day workshop November 7-9 OR attend the November 9 public opening of Punk Arcade.
11/7, 5-7pm WORKSHOP:
Make punk games.
Design an exhibition.
Or publish a zine.
- Race against the clock to create work to be featured in the PUNK ARCADE exhibition opening on Saturday night.
- No prior game design experience necessary.
- Grab a spot on of the game design, exhibition display or zine teams. Includes workshop/studio time on Friday and Saturday.
- Workshop space is limited, please RSVP to to let us know if you’re coming and what materials (laptops, joysticks, etc.) you want to bring from home.
Come play punk videogames designed by students, artists and game designers. For one night only, the space will be transformed into a massive celebration of independent, minimalist and accessible game culture.
