Alvarado Caverns and Mystery Theater
Oct 17th-Nov 24th
Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8-10pm
Alvarado Caverns and Mystery Theater is a project by Chris Weisbart that turns the street level of our space into a haunted cave. In the basement, we built an 18-seat Victorian opera house that is accessed via a hidden staircase behind a stalagmite in the cave. We are commissioning a wide range of artists and performers to develop works around hauntings, the uncanny, and the mysterious to take place in the space. Some Favorite Writers | Dracula!

"Perfusing music, theater, cinema, and visual arts, Dracula is perhaps best known for inspiring some of the most chilling and erotic imagery in literature. Experts and enthusiasts Jonathan Grossman, Leslie Klinger, Elizabeth Miller, and David Skal join Mona Simpson to present selected vampire writings and speculate on society’s eternal fan(g)dom for this shape-shifting, undead archvillain. Costumes welcome.
