-LA Observed reports on the iPic being delayed until 2014, putting it in competition with the upcoming Alamo Drafhouse theater. Still a great new age of redone theaters in LA including the the Chinese closed for renovation to become a real IMAX. The Westwood iPic had some asbestos and will have to be closed until it's safely gotten rid of.
-Escape From Tomorrow Gets Distribution
In the "how the Hell did they pull this off" department Escape From Tomorrow, the film shot in Disneyland and Disney World without permission has gotten a distributor. Producers Distribution Agency (PDA) will be distributing the movie in America starting Oct 11. VOD distribution to home markets via FilmBuff will start the same day as the limited theatrical release of Oct 11. PDA also released Exit Through The Gift Shop showing Mr. Brainwash as a great con-man.
I'll be sure to have updates when it's playing in LA at one of the many independents that will be scrambling to get it. Best guest, it might be playing at the Sundance Cinemas as it did debut at Sundance
Synopsis:
An epic battle begins when a middle-aged American husband and father of
two learns that he has lost his job. Keeping the news from his nagging
wife and wound-up children, he packs up the family and embarks on a full
day of park hopping amid enchanted castles and fairytale princesses.
Soon, the manufactured mirth of the fantasy land around him begins to
haunt his subconscious. An idyllic family vacation quickly unravels into
a surrealist and darkly comic nightmare of paranoid visions, bizarre
encounters, and an obsessive pursuit of a pair of sexy teenage
Parisians. Chillingly shot in black and white, ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW dissects the mythology of artificial perfection while subversively attacking our culture's obsession with mass entertainment.
