Swiss architect Peter Zumthor's plans and a tiny model have been unveiled for what LACMA could look like a few years from now. Only in the planning phase the building is anything but conventional with it being hoisted in the air on seven stilts each with it's own staircase. The finished "Black Flower" or ink blot looking building would hang over part of the LA Brea tar pits allowing for future film makers to have a scene where rich people fall into the LA Brea tar pits. It's constructions also means the destruction of the main campus and will cost $650 million.
The Presence of the Past: Peter Zumthor Reconsiders LACMA starts June 9th and lets everyone take a closer look at what LACMA might be.
