CHP officers notice Elba Jimenez, 37, driving erratically on the 10 freeway. They try to pull her over and she takes off in her Camry.
She transitions to the 5 southbound, exits at Cesar Chavez Ave, and slams into a taco truck.
Firemen in their station directly across the street hear the crash and respond immediately, but can't save Marlene Alatorre, 19, and Claudia Fernandez, 38, who were standing around the truck and died instantly. When newscameras arrive, Alatorre's sobbing mother tells them that her daughter is in pieces.
There were at least two people injured inside the truck, including a pregnant woman.
Jimenez suffered minor injuries and is facing murder and DUI charges.
