4th Annual Tanabata Festival and Grand Parade This Weekend

 See colorful lanterns and a parade of Japanese culture this weekend in lovely Little Tokyo as part of Nisei Week. With multiple booth and activities happening throughout the area you won't want to miss the 4th Annual Tanabata Festival and the Grand Parade. There's nothing quite like seeing the different Tanabata lanterns hanging up high in the wind, making the sky colorful. Then there's the fun of seeing the parade go through Little Tokyo with it's own interesting sights. They'll be plenty to eat and see for the kids. Saturday the Japanese National American Museum will be open free and have plenty of activities for kids.

There are also usally sales at different businesses or special activities planned.

I have to say I don't like the Nisei Week website, where I'm getting some of my info, I wish it had a better interface.

Friday, August 10: Opening Ceremony 5:00pm

The Grand Parade that make its way through the streets of Little Tokyo, Sunday, August 12, starting at 5 p.m

The parade travels east on 2nd street to San Pedro Street, then north on   San Pedro to First Street, East on First Street to Central Avenue, the   parade then turns the corner and travels south on Central Avenue and   ends mid-block.2012 Nisei Week Grand Parade Choreographer is Azuma Sumako II and Azuma Kikusue.
