Proud Mary - Pride Weekend
Feeling curious this May or just want to party, the Queen Mary can hook you up.
"Taking place in a three-story event hall that formerly housed one of the Queen Mary’s enormous boilers, Poseidon promises to be the hottest dance event of the weekend. Along with aerial performers, go-go dancers and a few other surprises, party-goers will be treated to music by DJs Manny Lehman and Scotty K spinning the top dance beats. Poseidon will also feature a live performance by international pop sensation, Amannda, whose recently-debuted single, ‘The Only One,’ is climbing the Billboard Dance chart (currently at #23). The all-night party rolls from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. Tickets are $50.

All Natural Flower Arrangements @ World 8
Available in green mushroom, red mushroom, fire flower. Blue mushroom available upon request.
Sorry, but I think it might be an annual thing around Valentine's Day. Yes, video game flower arrangements! Great idea, which I forgot to ask about in my interview in March with World 8, the local independent game store. It's rather a sweet idea to send one of these to the gamer in your life, maybe they"ll think about doing it for Mother's Day, if they get some pre-orders. Reminds me of my own project Mega Man Flower Vases.
Other Dimension and Japanese Garden Average LA Stuff
Another post on time travel or other dimensions and Japanese gardens, maybe I should switch my site name to Time Travel and Japanese Stuff In LA.
Anyway LA Bloom Fest is going on in Little Tokyo with some activities to enjoy the garden at the JACCC, which is a terrrible too long name. There's a huge Zen Garden to look at or you know you could go to the beach.
IAM8BIT is looking for guinea pigs, not real guinea pigs, but humans. This is for Quantum Conudrum, a new puzzle game, you'll be in some other dimension for two days, you'll have to be LA adjacent, sign up here

Kickstarter LA : Miracle Mile Doc on Tiny Kitten Zombies
The Miracle Mile Paradox ARG
Well this already got funded, but it's happening this Summer. Yeah a really fun sounding ARG this Summer not based on any video game or movie. The money is going to be used for a reall office space on the Miracle Mile? I wonder how it will all go? BTW it'll be free now that it's funded, so anyone can join it. I'll be sure to remind you about it later.
Out of Print - A Documentary about the New Beverly Cinema
With some big name interview planned and one of the only independents left, there's nothing that should be stopping you from funing a doc about the New Beverly Cinema. I'd love to see it on Netflix one day.
Tiny Kitten Teeth Deluxe Hardcover Book
They've been in a bunch of art shows in and around LA, now they're making a book.
Eaten By Zombies! In Cahoots Deckbuilding To Die For Game
I'm cheating on this one, they aren't based on LA, but their Zombie deck building game looks like so much fun. They're well beyond their goal, but you can still grab the game with some perks.

Game Hype: Rythm Game Looks Like New Taiko Drum Master
Checking out George Michael Brower's Rythm Game part of UCLA's Game Lab which is having two game night's soon. It looks like, well a new version of Taiko Dum Master and with Harmonix coming out with Rock Band Blitz it's almost like being in Rythm Heaven. Though Rythm Heaven is an awful game, which is sad, because the people behind Warioware made it.
Here's Taiko Drum Master's newest game will probably never get her in the states (Japanese words)
Anime Hype: Panty & Stocking, Why Aren't You On Adult Swim?
Panty and Stocking finally has a release date and full english dub cast.
7-10-12
Fastener- Christopher Bevins,Corset – Chris Ayres
Scanty- Colleen Clinkenbeard,Kneesocks- Cherami Leigh
Brief – Joel McDonald,Chuck – Ian Sinclair
Garterbelt – Christopher R. Sabat ,Stocking– Monica Rial, Panty – Jamie Marchi
I'll have more on it as it comes out, but honestly I thought Funimation was saving the info for Anime Expo. I also thought they might have gotten a deal with Adult Swim. I can't think of an anime that better fits Adult Swim than this sick, dirty and twisted abomination of slutty angel animation. The damn thing mocks Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab. I don't know if Adult Swim is just too far into funding titmouse animation or that Funimation can't cut a deal. It's a shame. I already though Sgt Frog should get picked up, but that's another dream.

Transformers The Ride May 25 Official Opening
Early buzz from friends and online from "technical runs" are saying the ride is a must the next time you're in the park. "Rehearsals" are going on now so you might be able to check out the ride before the grand opening check here.
For more info about the ride head here
With the ride being so close to Hollywood I wonder if any of the stars of the series will be in attendance for the grand opening scheduled May 25th.
You seems to start off at a Nest base, don 3D glasses and head into battle alongside Optimus. It seems to be a bit more enhanced from the Simpson ride.

Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival 2012
I'm truly excited by some titles for this year's Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, May 10-May 20 unfortunately no Warped Forest, like I was hoping, but check out some of these films handpicked for your pleasure or check the full ist at the link above.
Tormented aka Rabbit Horror 3D
I've been waiting for this one, here's a early article about it from last year. Once again you can't seen a striking resemblance between Amy Sol's art and the movie. I can't wait for the trippy murderous bunny filled visuals. Can't say I like the name "Tormented", I guess makreting wise they're goin to try and lose that connection, which is a bit odd. Horror's kind of a niche market and selling it as some deep thriller might backfire.
9:45 PM | Saturday, May 12 | Director's Guild of America 2 |
"TORMENTED centers on a young boy whose family is unraveling. His sister is grappling with the reality of life and death, while his father walks a line with insanity. The situation intensifies when the boy manifests a dangerous friendship with a stuffed toy rabbit that comes to life."
Headshot
"A return to the crime genre for Thai auteur Pen-ek Ratanaruang (6IXTYNIN9, LAST LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE), HEADSHOT is a noir-laced thriller about a hitman who is shot in the head and wakes up to find that he sees everything upside down"
Why is it the same night as Rabbit Horror 3D, dammit, I so want to see this premise played out, upside down everything!

Sony Reveals PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale with Bad Camera Work and Monotone Speaking
Kotaku just plain hated the name " Sony Confirms New PS3 Fighting Game, Complete With Stupid Name " I just hate the camera work and monotone speaking from the speaker. Could Sony not tell us the news of this game in such a piss poor manner? But, yeah, the name is kind of dumb.
-Camera work
What the Hell is going on? You couldn't set up a tripod? Why are you at an angle and zooming in and out and slightly moving. Did you just get out of art school?
Also saw his shadow minus points
-Monotone Speaker
You are boring. I know you're in charge of the game, but where the Hell are the spokesmen for this or Kevin VP of Sony?
-Gaming Journalist only
It couldn't be more of a sausage party if you tried. I think I saw clones. Was there not one white male, wait spotted one chick... before slow motion of someone using ps3 controller... because that's cool... I guess?
Sorry, just hate that's the reveal, they couldn't do something cool at E3? Like have people in costumes at E3 battle on stage or outside.
Oh Sony, sometimes I don't get you.
Game wise it looks fun. A complete rip-off of Smash, but who cares. Just hope there's a bigger roster of fighters down the line.

Lord Nut Levington's Nuts Review
We all love nuts, let's just admit it. I know some of you say you're allergic, but I call it being lethargic. Nuts are to be consumed by the populace and enjoyed. So when I spied some brand new nuts in far from normal flavors I asked to sample some. Lord Nut Levington's Nuts are what I'm writing about it. This great man of nuts has given us so much to munch on during a sports game or party for someone who can walk again. Let's be serious that person who can walk again has changed and just isn't the person you knew anymore. Who cares your eating nuts, with them and can learn to be friends with this new former friend. That's the power of Lord Nut Levington's Nuts.
Here's how I score the nuts I sampled, in which I mean I ate too many at once.
Cinnapplooza
-For the child in us all, it's kind of like a trail mix on it's own. Apples, cinnamon and some vanilla to get you hungry for a desert. It's like a preparatory desert. You'll want a cupcake or a pudding later
Thai Dyed
-To me it tasted like spicy lemons, wasn't my cup of nuts. However, my more healthy eating friends gobbles them up and said it reminded them of coconut soup?
Sweet Miss Keet
- Smokey pineapple BBQ flavor. Perfect for a BBQ or that thing Hawaiians have with the pig, a Louey I believe it's called or is that the man you invite over to enjoy these with you.
Rebel Mary
-Like a Bloody Mart, except no real blood, forget it vampires. It tasted like cocktail sauce to me. Nuts that taste like cocktail sauce, there's a joke there. If you like tomato, you'll enjoy it.
Mamma Mia
- My favorite and don't call me a Mamma's boy, there's a whole Chromeo song for it, so just play it. Tomato, cheese and garlic, like eating small yummy sandwiches.
El Cheddarales
- Hey Gringo! Why not try some cheddar cheese and Jalapeno, well you're probably not a gringo if you've had nachos before. Kind of like nachos.
Just from a design standpoint the cans of nuts are eye-catching and each as it's own story to tell you about that certain peanut.

"COPY is a darkly absurd office comedy (with music!) that explores memory, loss, obsession, daguerreotypes, deceitful lemurs and the undissectable sound of love. When mild-mannered Theo loses his beloved cat, he wanders in to an office where the employees have forgotten what exactly their company does. Theo begins a laughing club in the office bathroom as therapy. Soon a rival crying club is formed in the opposite bathroom, and a deadly power struggle ensues as everyone in the office tries to find their way in life and love. "

The Metal Is Back
Metalocalypse Season 4 Premieres April 29th. I've been privy to the first two new episodes and it goes well into what Adult Swim is none for, compelte and utter stupidity. It'll be a Hell of fun to watch. So join Nathan on his new romantic episode and Toki have his insanely sick visions. Oh yes, a lot of people will die painfully. See you Sunday.
It's Back From The Dead Re-Animator The Musical Returns
Wow, talk about second chances, just after hearing about the Zelda Concert back in June, you hear about the return of Re-Animator The Musical. The perfect blend of play, horror movie and musical. The songs are funny, the actors perfect for their roles. Please don't pass up your chance of going to bloodiest plays I've been too again.

Bad Jew BBQ Sauce Review
So bad it's good and kosher. Bad Jew BBQ Sauce is a hilariously labeled condiment ready for your consumption. I recently had a big ol' BBQ and dosed my burgers with the tangy and zesty flavor agent. It added a level to the burgers. So good you'll say, maybe a little more maybe.
Just the label is eye-catching, everyone at a party wants to try something that has a Hasidic Jew with sunglasses on it. Friends commentary and jokes that arise let this be a great conversation piece, usually going into what ZZ Top is doing now.
Now here's what great about it, it really is kosher and doesn't have corn syrup it's pure sugar giving it a richer flavor compared to simple ketchup.
You can buy it here, pick up one of there t-shirts too for some looks.
World 8 What A Video Game Store Should Be
World 8
1057 S Vermont Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90006
(213) 389-5212
World 8 is an independent video game store located in Koreatown. You may have passed it while driving though the city. As soon as you see its sign, with its big eyes looking at you, it makes you feel like the gaming world can delve a little bit into LA's reality. Sure, you have GameStops and Game Dude, but do you have a hybrid store where you can play any current system? World 8 is also a modern arcade.
A few weeks ago in March, I headed to Koreatown before going to Cai Guo-Qiang's Sky Ladder at MOCA, it was literally a blast as over 40,000 rockets lit up the night sky. It wasn't the only blast I had that day, earlier I was on the hardest level of an old-school Mario game and a video game store with a piranha plant coming down from its ceiling, green pipe included. I was at World 8, which is run by Israel Garcia Roldan and his family, they've been up and running for nine months. They're local and have lived nearby all their lives, so they know the area.
As you can see in the above interview with Israel, co-owner with his brother Edgar, he is a gamer and a nice guy who runs an awfully nice video game store. Some of it's features include: some very old games you might not find at other stores, video game merch, Duff Beer (non-alcoholic) in the soda machine and oh yeah, five separate TV's devoted to video games. You can pay and play any one of them you want at a fair rate. Even play on the NES, get your Duck Hunt on-as Israel told me it only works on older TV's-be prepared to not be on the big screen if playing it. This five faced threat means trying out any used game or even new ones.
As I was taking pictures and going over the place I saw Israel and his family help customers and fiddle with systems, taking the time to talk of old school titles. A few signs had pointed to a Call of Duty: Zombie Tournament I had just missed, they throw tournaments quite often, check here. If nothing is scheduled, why not get loose at the weekly Friday Night Fight? They do have a tournament winner page, that's just too awesome for a gamer, immortalized with a picture on a page with other devoted players.
You get a sense of community and regulars, a few regulars were in playing some shooter in the background almost the whole time I was there. Next to them, was someone kicking butt in Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, sadly the Wii was left alone. Israel likes being part of the community, he even has a deal with parents of the local school, if kids bring in a final report card for the semester and if they had straight A’s they'll take 10% off something in the store or 2 hours of free play.
World 8 feels like stepping into a shop in a video game, it looks like the world has somehow folded and a portal in subspace has let you enter a store you'd only find in a game, with much better customer service.
They do have their own parking lot and I hope one day they do use it for a RC Mario Kart event that Israel mentioned, there's also plenty of street parking and your near so many places to grab good food from Koreatown.
So head to World 8 it's much easier to get to then the one in Super Mario.
Piranha plant!
