Burbank Film Festival Back To Break You
The Burbank International Film Festival is back Sep 15-18
playing at AMC 16, 6 and Flapper's
They have a very fun and impressive line-up for the animation and sci-fi nerd.
For animation
Spike & Mikes "Sick and Twisted Animation Festival
Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos
Adventures In Plymptoons
Three animation block
plus, Bill Plympton - Surprise World Premiere (USA)
Spike and Mike's brings a cavalcade of short cartoons to watch, then you have the popular anime Fullmetal Alchemist's movie Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos that just came out in Japan so I'm guessing subtitles. This is based on the new series now airing on Adult Swim. Bill Plympton has been an independent animator for some time now and was just awarded at the Annie's (cartoon awards). I think they should have maybe waited to do an doc on him until after he died. You, just see so many, but if your into animation it might be a good way to see his process. The man is a great animator, so his world premiere piece will be fun to watch.
On the sci-fi end
Star Trek: Of Gods and Men with Q&A after
Two Sci-Fi Horror Blocks
SCI FI PARTY NIGHT
Star Trek: Of Gods and Men is a strange tale because it's fan movie with real cast members from different incarnations of the show and one part of it is directed by Tuvak, Tim Russ. Basically if your a Star Trek fan, you need to be there. The story has something to do with a museum replica of the original enterprise and that jerk the Guardian of Forever. The two Sc-Fi Horror blocks have me salivating, just the the synopsises and pics make me want to see them. It makes me question why Sci-Fi Network doesn't have a short films night or something. The Sci-Fi party looks like fun to with celebrities joining you for food and drink.
I"ll have more on what to watch as we get closer to the festival.
