    Celebrity Funeral: Nicolas Cage

"It is with deepest sorrow that I inform you of the loss of one of America's greatest thespians, Nicolas Cage. From Con Air to Captain Corelli's Mandolin, he has been in our hearts since he was Nikolas Kim Coppola. Even though his body is gone, his body of work will surely live on (primarily because he has 47 movies in post-production)."

Game Hype: Ultimate Edition Means More Fan Art

I'm not just going to post fan art, but I'm truly excited about Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 coming out this November at $40. What's new? How about new characters for the game! Phoenix Wright, Vergil, Nemesis, Strider, Firebrand and Frank West from Capcom, and Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider, Hawkeye, Nova, Iron Fist and Rocket Raccoon from Marvel. Yes, I wrote Phoenix Wright. No one know how his move list looks yet, but Capcom-Unity has been revealing new characters moves. I"ll have more on how silly Phoenix Wright's moves will be when more is released.

Frank West was a great choice, I'm guessing he"ll play a bit like Jill Valentine from the older games and be able to summon zombies. Dr. Strange is no slouch or Ghost Rider hits you with his motorcycle with his ultimate attack. I can't wait to play it this November and collect more fan art of it.

    The Poor Ideas Club

Of more aptly named Los Angeles Urban Rangers have two events that seems so socially backward and not thought out that it might makes some yuppies and hispters throw down their fake glasses and say, "Let's just go see a movie".

This Thursday as part of the MOCA's engagement series, which last year was more show than fun, is planning a Skid Row visit , which I'm sure will end poorly and someone will get hurt. Plus, a  Campout at MOCA Grand , that sounds cool, except for the part about teaching people how nice it it to make homeless dwellings. There calling the homeless dwellings "alternative temporary shelters". What drew me to the story and which I'm sad to report  is the camping out at the MOCA Grand, which just sound cool. Who doesn't want to hang out at any museum at night?

To add these stupid events, because there camping is such a frivolous act. You can't have a discussion on cultures whose art is still made with nature or discuss artist who reflect on nature? Artsit who reflect on the difference they find between living in urban area and city dwellings?

Just make some smores and discuss something you get.

Game Hype: Video Game Artist Roundup

Donald  Kennedy should make full scale boardwalk cabinets, instead of the mini-scaled ones  you see above. Wario, Mario and Elecman are all part of machine you might see down Santa Monica pier.

Andrew Kolb shows of his love of David Bowie and Children books by making a kid version of Space Oddity. He also recently posted his mix-em up game characters from the Super I AM8IT show. I briefly got to talk with him at the show.

    BKO: Bangkok Knockout Review

Man, I just had a great night, the girl of my dreams came to my victory banquet after I won a trip for me and my friends  to be in Hollywood as a martial arts crew, but wait a second. How did I get in this room? Why's everyone sleeping?

    10 minutes in
Oh crap did a car just come out of nowhere a hit one of my friends.
     11 minutes in
My girls being taken by ninjas!
    12 minutes in
I hate ninjas and I really hate today, but hopefully me and my martial arts crew will be enough.

BKO: Bangkok Knockout can not be explained without TALKING SLIGHTLY LOUDER AS YOU PROGRESS IN YOUR EXPLANATION. So just imagine energizing music and a narrator getting you pumped for this film.

    (This part in Narrator voice)
It's all about making it to Hollywood for a young team of martial art students. Each has their own style to kick ass and they"ll need it taking on a group on ninjas and other bad guys.

How about a car chase inside of abandoned factory, an abandoned factory that makes ceramic pots. Let's not forget a psycho wielding an axe, a dude whose way to into you, ninjas, a spider-like dude, sword fights, motorcycle punks, guns and every one's hair looking good.

Now matter being beaten, punched, kicked in the head, elbowed, falling in the dirt, being in a dusty old factory building, beaten with metal, shot at, run over or being drenched in water these dudes hair never gets a split-end and always looks styled and gelled.
    (End of  Narrator voice)

The other spectacle then invincible hair is the stunts and martial arts. Attacks so awesome you"ll be going "Wow". If you've seen Jackie Chan pull off some impressive moves you'll be wanting him to compete with these dudes. Kicks off a chain link fence are quite impressive, but so are punching people into cars.  The amount of punches a elbows are just brutal, it's just a rush of adrenaline.
The extras also have a Making of and Behind the Scenes part to see how certain stunts we're pulled off.
The plot's contrived and when people speak English you"ll just start laughing. There's a whole illegal high stakes gambling subplot going on that is just ridiculous. I love the use of iPads by the bad guys. iPad the main weapon of every current super villain.

Talking about bad guys, there's one boss fight that makes the whole martial arts team try and take down one guy. Will they? He kicks all their butts with ease. He just needs to take a breather.

It's not really a B-movie and if they had just taken some more time with the whole human life gambling side it be top notch. The part with the Mom and kid sister we're way too corny. This movie is a Martial arts movie. Ridiculous plot and all out action. Pick it up or miss out on all impossibly clean hair action.

Hot Dogs and Video Game Art

Last Saturday at Vicious Dogs in North Hollywood coins and 8-bit music chimed as heated beef hit the roofs of people's mouths.Stacey Hughes and Ashlee-Rose of US Artworks had plenty pieces up, surrounding patrons with video game nostalgia.  It made me want more video game themed restaurants or a list some places to play some chiptunes in NOHO. More events might finally be hitting this art district with the new Laemmele's movie theater across the street from Vicious Dogs generating more foot traffic. God only know where people will park.
