ThunderCats, premiering on Cartoon Network Friday, July 29 at 8 p.m. (ET, PT).
The re-imagained take on ThunderCats is epic. I was sent the 1st hour long episode episode via Cartoon Network the day before of Anime Expo. I didn't want to leave while watching in the morning, it pulled me in and it"ll pull you in too.
A world of anthropormorphic cats and animal people with their own world. A young king who must prove himself named Lion-O. His brother Tygra is always seen as the better son. A young hottie named Cheetara coming to their aid. Also a glimpse at two sibling orphans and con-artists WilyKit and WilyKat. Now adorable looking Snarf. The general Panthro. All of them must come together to find The Book of Omens before Mumm-Ra does or it's all over.
The lush animtion from Japanese Studio4C, voice acting from vets of the industry, Lion-O's voice actor is Batman Beyond's voice Will Friedle. The story and world pull you in. A whole new universe opens up to you with a distinct alien world. It also gets very dark, people get hurt and die. There's even speciesism between the inhabitants of the world. I think it might be the next Avatar: The Last Airbender. It looks like it will have a overall continuity and build up to big fights.
What I most feared would be poor writing and animtion, but my rears are gone. When it ended I couldn't wait for the next episode.
Best parts
-Snarf can only say, "Snarf" , he can't lecture.
-Mumm-Ra is a bad-ass, he isn't an idiot anymore, he's Darth Vader before the prequels. You"ll know what I'm writing about when you see the premiere.
-The Sword of Omens has real powers
Can't wait for toys from Mattel
