Los Angeles readers, time for a tale of most frightening pop culture reference. Just kidding, the Olly Moss art show just opened May 7th at Gallery 1988 on Melrose. As you can see below, people were lined up around the block waiting to get in. The show was very startling for the choice of silhouettes of pop culture icons, seemingly coming out of nowhere. They'd make great pictures to pop-up on Netflix while searching videos or icons for when your looking for movies on your computer, I'd thought there be more intricate and colorful pieces. Like getting lost in a sea of "Guess Who?" you'd hear names of anime, video game, movie and anybody famous from the 80's being figured out by the patrons of Olly Moss's work that night. Some were hard to guess, others took seconds, he really captured the look of characters in simple detail.
Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? The Olly Moss Art Show
I tried to get as many of the video game characters as I could, when you get down to Olly Moss he's really just a guy who watched all the things you've watched, except he has more talent. The man is only 24 and been in the business for two years and has a huge following.
With the frame it's like cartoon eyes staring at you from across the room.
